Collaborative Curatorial Project

「生活の便り」は、やまぐちアートコミュニケータープログラム 架空の学校「アルスコーレ」に 参加するアートを通したコミュニケーションや学びを深める参加者(アート・エデュケーター) とスイス・スクオールで滞在制作を進める第 10 回やまぐち新進アーティスト大賞受賞作家であ る鈴木啓二朗による共同制作企画展です。
2022 年 10 月頃より約2ヶ月に渡り、合計 4 回のオンライン講座を通して、鈴木の滞在先であ るスクオールでのリサーチやこれまでの活動を参照しながら、「山口とスイス・スクオールの間 で考える社会課題とアートの有用性」をテーマに、各参加者はそれぞれの感性、解釈、創造、編集、 解説、展示、コミュニケーションなどを駆使し、独自の作品やプロジェクトを会場である LOCUS にて成果発表しています。 スイス・スクオールは、アルプス山々に囲まれミネラルの豊富な湧水を活用したヨーロッパ屈指 の保養地であるとともに、スイスでは日本にも共通する自殺率の高さが顕著に見られるとのこと で、豊かな自然資源や生活水準の高さを誇りながらも直面している社会的、精神的、心理的な課 題は、日本や山口にも共通する課題であり、その課題に対するアートの有用性やその活用を探求 することは、とても意義深いものと考えられます。
「生活の便り」は、鈴木の便りをもとに各参加者(アート・エデュケーター)がそれぞれにテー マを設定し、作品と鑑賞者の間で交わされるコミュニケーションや体験、また、それらを取り巻 く背景や文脈を効果的に掘り下げる会場構成やキャプションなどの仕組みを多様に試行錯誤して展示されました。 

The "Reports about everyday life" is a collaborative exhibition by the participants (art educators) of the Yamaguchi Art Communicators Program "Arscholē," a fictitious school for communication and learning through art , and Keijiro Suzuki, the receipient of the 10th Yamaguchi Emerging Artist Prize, who is now in the process of creating his artwork during his residency in Scuol, Switzerland. 
Through a total of four online lectures over a period of about two months starting in October 2022, each participant worked with his/her own sensibility, interpretation, creation, editing, commentary, exhibition, and communication at LOCUS under the theme of "Social Issues and the Usefulness of Art between Yamaguchi and Scuol, Switzerland," while referring to Suzuki's research and past activities in Scuol, where he is on the residency in Switzerland. The Swiss town of Scuol is one of Europe's leading recreational and therapeutic destinations, surrounded by the Alps and utilizing mineral-rich spring water, and also has a high suicide rate, a problem that is common by Switzerland and Japan. It is very meaningful to explore the usefulness of art and its utilization in addressing these issues.
Each participant (art educator) in the "Seikatsu no Tayori / Reports about Everyday life" exhibition has set his or her own theme based on Suzuki's reports, and has created a variety of mechanisms, such as venue composition and captions, to effectively explore the communication and experiences between the works and their viewers, as well as the background and context surrounding them, through a process of trial and error.
